We founded Fire Ox to help people eat well by creating delicious, nourishing food centered around vegetables. We love cooking and eating great-tasting vegetable dishes, but we realized many people don’t have the time or know-how to prepare vegetables well. So we set out to make veggies approachable, delicious, and satisfying by drawing inspiration from cuisines we love.

I love food; I love to eat it and I love to cook and feed it to others. I started this business because, while I knew how compelling good vegetable dishes are to eat, I also experienced how difficult they were to prepare – or buy prepared – on busy weekdays. I’m excited about a good market opportunity coupled with positive social and environmental impact.

 

ZOë GELLER, Co-Founder

I founded Fire Ox to create a more sustainable food system. My heart's passion is to create good, nourishing food that is better for people and planet. My passion comes from my struggle with an eating disorder for over ten years and my time as an Americorps teaching kids how to grow food.

The name, Fire Ox, goes back to the 1930s - to when my ancestor, Suydam Cutting, traveled all over the world to learn about people’s way of life, and admire the beauty of the earth and its unique plants and animals. Learn more about the origin of our name in our blog post.
